Polls bad for Labour... not great for Cameron either

The latest Guardian/ICM poll puts Labour on 31, which isn't good news for Brown. But look at the Tory figure - DOWN three at 37 per cent. Despite the child benefit cock-up, Cameron still isn't trusted. It's all a bit reminiscent of the '80s and '90s with Labour under Kinnock: Thatcher and then Major weren't doing well, but Labour just couldn't capitalise on their travails because ultimately, the public couldn't bring themselves to trust them. That's Cameron's problem now. It remains to be seen whether that will change, and the election's still a long way away. But my money is still on a Labour victory.
